How do you support your staff to create an inclusive, educational, and fun environment for all young people? By creating the same environment for them! When staff feel a sense of belonging and support, they’re able to focus on creating a similar experience for youth. As supervisors, we have the opportunity to model and utilize culturally responsive practices with our staff to ensure everyone, staff and youth alike, have the ability to learn and thrive over the summer. In this session, participants will explore how a framework for culturally responsive youth programs applies to supervision and management in order to create truly inclusive and responsive work environments. Additionally, participants will learn how our cultural identities shape how we engage with others and will practice tangible strategies to provide authentic and supportive feedback.
